In Work: A Norfolk Hunting Jacket

This Holland & Sherry triple window pane sherry tweed, double-sided rolling three Norfolk hunting jacket with a bi-swing back is one of our special projects of 2012. It is nspired by the Norfolk hunting jackets of the late 1800′s.

Featuring custom patina navy blue quilted leather work, grommet details and stitching, the padded gun flap highlights the jacket’s original design and purpose. Additional details include bellows patch pockets and hand-worked buttonholes.

Only revealed to the wearer, or visible upon removal, this jacket is half-lined in a navy paisley-printed acetate lining with complementary piping accentuating the shape and design, laced up the centre-back and adorned with branded leather aglets bearing the owner’s initials. For this particular jacket of heavier cloth, half-lining is the perfect combination of form and function. While showcasing the construction of the garment by leaving visible the seams of the outer cloth edged in decorative piping, it also provides the wearer added breathability: a garment designed to transition through Canadian seasons.
