Created for a patron who wished to carry his ensemble into an after-work scenario, this midnight blue houndstooth stroller has been credited as “something special” by its commissioner, who also mentioned that he “might even wear it on a casual Friday.”
Utilizing fabric from the House of Scabal’s Yorkshire Mill, this suit is made of a medium venetian done in a houndstooth print. The detailing on this suit is rather minimal but our house signatures — such as our cut-away fly front surgeon cuffs –make an appearance as well as a statement.
While the traditional stroller usually follows a formula consisting of a black or grey coat paired with grey striped or checkered formal trousers, a grey or silver necktie and a dove grey, black or buff waistcoat, our patron is showcasing a more modern and bold take on the classic suit.
As seen here, our stroller features a single-breasted jacket with peak lapels. The trousers are single pleated with cuffs while suspenders replace the traditional belt. Pattern-blocking a brightly coloured floral shirt with the dark and houndstooth suit adds personality and further contributes to ensemble’s modern appeal. Finally, the colour of the suit is also a stray from tradition as the usual grey, black and silver are replaced by a moody midnight blue.
Though the stroller is considered a daytime dress, this contemporary piece can be worn to any nighttime function with a simple change of the shirt.
