This Breanish Tweed country sport jacket currently underway is a another one of those special pieces that our atelier has become known for. This patron was inspired by the Norfolk hunting jacket which can be found on this blog. The wool it’s made of comes from one of the great weaving areas of Great Britain; renowned worldwide for its Tweed.

Cloth profile: Breanish Tweed is a family business based on the Island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The Tweed they produce is lightweight and is made of Shetland wool, Lambswool and Cashmere. Their looms have been adopted from Victorian Hattersley looms, built in Yorkshire, England. Some of the machines are as old as ninety years. It takes around three miles of walking to create the warp for a length of tweed. Breanish Tweed is the last mill to handwarp its tweed.

The final production of this nifty jacket will be featured in part two of this series. Stay tuned.
