This bespoke Holland & Sherry black and grey herringbone tweed overcoat was entirely created in-house. It presented a wonderful opportunity to experiment with style and function. Fall weather in Toronto was perfect for our clients to work with us to design unique stylish yet classic garments from traditional hand-woven cloth that transition through the seasons.

Taking our colour inspiration from the charcoal grey and deep black of the tweed with cashmere herringbone and the pink and grey check wool inserts, the shaped interior lining of this overcoat provides an unexpected and additional canvas to experiment with colour and design. Pieced together in graceful curves, the large silver paisley print upper lining edged in pink highlights the jet black body lining.

Additional features of this bespoke overcoat include:

LAPELS: Pink and grey cutaway inserts edged with the black and grey herringbone tweed. Both fabrics in this garment are Holland & Sherry Callanish Blackhouse Tweed* (see below for cloth profile)

COLLAR: Two piece sandwich collar with a two piece fall (part of the collar from the roll line to the outer edge)

POCKETS: Stylized shaped slash pockets feature contrast pink pick-stitching & coordinating hand tacks

BUTTONHOLES: Eighteen contrast buttonholes, individually cut and created by hand from pink lines of the pink and grey check wool

DETAILS: Purl-stitched chain

CLOTH PROFILE: Holland & Sherry Callenish Blackhouse Tweed is woven in the Outer Hebridges of Scotland, home to the Neolithic Callanish Standing Stones and the famous stone-built, thatched-roof Black Houses. Inspired by the Island landscape and the peaty tones of traditional tweed cloth, The Callenish Blackhouse Collection reflects the ethnic character of the Scottish Islands. Pure wool is traceable back to a flock of Merino Sheep, unique to Scotland, then blended with Cashmere from Mongolia and handwoven by Island craftsmen to produce a cloth of natural beauty.
