Our patron this week is a special young man whose friends and family came together to create a homey, down-to-earth wedding for him and his bride. The celebration is set to take place on friend’s farm with invitations illustrated and designed by another friend. The decorations were created by another friend while suit is made in our ateiler and gifted by another friend. Seizing the opportunity to take part in something special, we offered our own gifts as well. On our part, our master embroiderer recreated the illustrations on the invitations as on the back of the vest as well as inside the coat.
In our initial consultation, we were struck by the indie pastoral aesthetic of the wedding. The groom-to-be had come prepared with a sheaf of photos of check shirts, floral ties, warm brown suspenders and plaid wool. We instantly fell in love with the idea of creating something that would be right at home at a barnyard soiree.
Our fabric selections had to stick to an earthy palette and look a little more rustic than our usual sophisticated and formal repertoire. For the coat we turned to Harrison’s, a family-owned fabric distributor boasting plenty of homespun tweeds and checks, while the vest had to be a colour-matched solid. The trousers were made from a brown Garriga fabric with a mottled brown-white fleck.
In lieu of gifts, the couple has requested donations to the charities in their lives. At Trend, We are proud to be a part of their special day and gracious that we were gifted the opportunity to do something personal for them, from our family to theirs.
