Stephan Moccio is, in a word, busy. Upon arriving to our atelier he lit up the room with chatter about the whirlwind of his life: giving up the house he and his wife had spent forever finding, moving to and trying to find housing in L.A, jetting back and forth from city to city. He seems almost perpetually surprised about where he’s gone in his life, even if it is very much a reality. He kept checking his iPhone for updates and in addition to the armload of Trend-made trousers that needed to be taken in after years of wear, he was also in need of a suit for the upcoming SOCAN awards.
Life post Wrecking Ball –– yes, that Miley Cyrus song no one could get out of their heads last year is of his own composition — has been “wild” as he puts it. The catchy pop track by Disney’s former princess has launched his career to new heights even more so than after his composition of Celine Dion’s A New Day Has Come and the theme song I Believe for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.
For his red carpet affair, Moccio selected a dazzling fabric from Dormeuil’s Celebration collection. The cloth is a black-on-black houndstooth, silk-wool blend with a shine to it. From a distance, the houndstooth pattern appears almost diamond-like. This suit is also one of the first to boast a teardrop-shaped label buttonhole, hand-sewn with a silk twist to bespoke standards. We have recently made this style of lapel buttonhole the standard for our house style and Stephan Moccio has taken it to the red carpet as our ambassador.
On the red carpet, he wore his collar undone and his french cuffs pulled out over the cuffs of his coat. He also left the coat open to show off the double-breasted vest made to match. Tanya Kim of eTalk Canada gushed over the suit. In true bespoke style, it fits him perfectly — as any suit should fit a man.
The night ended with Moccio taking home three awards including SACON’s No .1 Song award for Wrecking Ball. Congratulations are definitely in order.
With talent as great as his fashion choices, we are sure that this young man’s success will continue to grow throughout the years and we are ready and excited to dress him for whatever red carpet his places his feet upon.
